as one last favour to me pehaps you would be so kind to all us 2000 diehards and post my ramblings on the update to any other forum you think it might be usefull, judgeing by the number of near tearfull plees like my own I have read we need you! I shall cut my workload by simply copying a fully updated version of Office 2000 to disk for backup and individual backups numbered in order of application saved to a separate disk in case the former fails, hopefully I wont need to suffer the same panic till £he nex£ £ime. You point out that you cannot dwell on update problems in this forum, my apology. My guess, does Microsoft want me to upgrade?, it is the only course offered with ease. My Office programming works well and doesn't wear out. I do not see the point now of further worry about Validation, it would be of little positive help as Office 2000 is no longer supported.

Following some advise on the update forum I finaly managed to download SR1a from Technet by searching them for Office 2000 updates, downloading to a new folder in My Documents I named temporary.
